History

Málaga probably began life as an Iberian settlement although it acquired its historical imprint with the arrival of the Phoenicians in the 8th Century A.D. Then, at the end of the 3rd Century A.D., the Romans incorporated the city into the Empire. But it was only after the Visigoth period, with the Arabic assimilation in the 8th Century, that the population lived its greatest moment.

In 1487, the city was conquered by the Spanish Monarchy. Thereafter, in the 19th Century, great changes began to take place in Málaga which gave rise to the urban and architectural elements which today make up its current physiognomy.
