The delights and activities of the province of Málaga are countless. The greatest testimony is the huge number of visitors who are welcomed each year: approximately 9.5 million tourists or 15% of the total visiting Spain.
Western Costa del Sol
This is the strip of Málaga coastline offering the greatest international repute, with tourist areas, such as Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona, renowned throughout the world.
This is where the most comprehensive leisure offer in Europe is to be found, with funfairs and water parks, casinos, and the greatest concentration of golf courses in continental Europe, as well as prestigious Marinas such as Banús.
A few kilometres from the Mediterranean and sheltered by the Sierras Bermeja, Blanca and Mijas, are perfectly preserved White Villages such as Casares, Ojén and Mijas.
Axarquía
The entrance port to the Axarquía is in El Palo, a Málaga district which combines the tourist regions of la Cala del Moral and Rincón de la Victoria.
Continuing along the coast is Torre del Mar, Vélez-Málaga, Algarrobo, Torrox Costa and Nerja with its Balcón de Europa and renowned caves discovered in 1959: a total of thirty one towns just a few kilometres from the provincial capital.
Vega del Guadlahorce
Before coming out into Málaga, the river Guadalhorce irrigates a valley rich in agriculture, especially in citrus.
Here, there are traditional villages like Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Cártama, Pizarra, Alora and Coín, home to large numbers of Málaga residents who work in the capital.
